Vaginal Dryness and Atrophy

The ovaries produce three main hormones, estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone. Estradiol and testosterone are both essential for vaginal health along with the production of a healthy discharge and glycogen.

The ovaries produce three main hormones, estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone. Estradiol and testosterone are both essential for vaginal health along with the production of a healthy discharge and glycogen. Without a consistent level of both estradiol and testosterone the lining of the vagina begins to lose form, function, the ability to lubricate. Over time, the vaginal cells flatten ,opaque , lose their ability to lubricate and can no longer stretch. This condition is referred to as vaginal atrophy and is completely reversible with the correct hormone therapy and a series of 3  MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser treatments .

The MonaLisa Touch is a painless Co2 laser procedure that causes a deep injury in the vaginal tissue. The body sends in healing factors and stem cells which repair the injury resulting in a 30 % increase in collagen and elastin thickening and normalizing vaginal cells and increasing elastin and vaginal elasticity. After three MonaLisa Touch treatments, you will feel completely normal again. Most women are able to have intercourse without pain after the second treatment.

At Nouveau Medspas, we have treated many patients with and without a history of breast cancer. Often the breast cancer survivors have the most significant vaginal atrophy since they have frequently been on estrogen blockers for 10 years or more. We have had great success with our breast cancer patients which has been life changing not only for them but also for their partners. By far, this is one of the most rewarding things that we do in our practice.
