BODY CONTOURING WITH SCULPSURE®
Can you pinch an extra inch on your abdomen, hips, back or thighs? Do you have a stubborn little bit that just won’t go away no matter how much you work out? Maybe you’ve even tried the latest supplements, diets or exercise techniques, and you still find bits of stubborn fat on your body.
It might be time you turn to our proven body contouring aesthetic treatments for the body of your dreams. Regardless of where you would like to see a slimmer and more toned shape, our own Dr. Rubin can help you address your concerns with painless, noninvasive techniques.
WHAT IS BODY CONTOURING?
Body contouring, also called body sculpting, refers to aesthetic procedures that remove unwanted fat cells exactly where you want. These treatments are used to shape areas of the body and tighten your skin where weight loss and exercise don’t seem to touch. At Nouveau Medspas, we include fat reduction in our body contouring consults because we have the technology to alter the shape of your stomach, love handles and thighs.
Some of these include nonsurgical options, or lipolysis, which typically uses cold, heat or lasers applied to the skin with a device that freezes or melts those unwanted fat cells which gradually leave the body through natural waste elimination. And there are also invasive surgical options, including tummy tucks, body lifts, mommy makeovers and liposuction, which require being under anesthesia and a lengthy recovery period.

WHAT IS SCULPSURE®?
Whether you’re looking to significantly reduce fat or looking to address stubborn pockets that just won’t go away, SculpSure could be the answer you’ve been searching for. Since it’s noninvasive and easily performed in the office, there’s little to no downtime.
With SculpSure, you can have a treatment during your lunch hour and return to work immediately as if nothing happened. You’re likely to have your procedure performed in sets of one to three sessions every six weeks to achieve optimal results, with your full results being most visible six weeks after your final session.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SCULPSURE PROCEDURE?
During your procedure, the SculpSure device is placed on your skin in the exact areas where you wish fat cells to be diminished. The proprietary laser heat warms fat cells without affecting the skin’s surface. This raises the temperature of your unwanted, targeted fat cells, damaging their structure and weakening them for breakdown. Once “melted,” these fat cells will leave your body naturally through your lymphatic system over the next three months.
For your comfort, the SculpSure applicator cycles through heating and cooling intermittently. You’re likely to feel a tingling sensation at different times throughout the treatment, which most patients describe as easy to tolerate and comfortable.
What should I expect during the treatment?

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH SCULPSURE?
SculpSure has been FDA-cleared for the treatment of:
- Flanks (
sides of your body from your upper abdomen to your back) - Abdomen
- Hips
- Thighs
And now, we can also offer SculpSure Submental treatments designed to reduce a double chin.
WHAT ARE SCULPSURE SUBMENTAL TREATMENTS?
SculpSure Submental treatment uses the same proprietary gentle laser technology to melt away stubborn double chin fat instead of on the main body areas. By employment of a unique applicator made for the lower facial area, SculpSure has recently been cleared by the FDA for the submental site (the part of your body directly below your chin).
This is one of the most challenging areas of the body to lose weight, and a double chin can make most people feel embarrassed and very self-conscious. Most people turn to invasive injections or surgery to diminish extra fat around the face. Luckily, at Nouveau Medspas in Gig Harbor, Washington, we have the necessary applicator to help patients who want to address their double chin in a noninvasive and pain-free way.
Even though this laser treatment heats the temperature of fat cells (while still keeping the skin’s surface cool), the surrounding skin isn’t damaged, and the only thing anyone will notice is that you look younger and thinner.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SCULPSURE SUBMENTAL PROCEDURE?
When you come in for your SculpSure Submental treatment, you’ll be escorted to relax in a private room. Since the laser creates heat under your skin’s surface, SculpSure has cooling technology to feel soothing. Most patients describe a tingling sensation, but Dr. Rubin will ensure that you don’t experience any discomfort during your entire procedure.
The SculpSure device will be attached to your head with the specialty applicator pressed up against the bottom of your chin and neck. Using heat below the skin surface, fatty cells are specifically targeted and melted down, and they’ll leave your body naturally through your lymphatic system, just like with the body treatments. The entire process will take around 30 minutes or less.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR SCULPSURE TREATMENTS
There is no downtime with SculpSure. Immediately following your appointment, you can return to your regular routine. Treatments are quick and usually last about 25 minutes. Depending on your aesthetic goals, you may need to return for follow-up treatments. Dr. Rubin will create a custom plan ahead of time, so you know how many appointments to expect.
Although not necessary, consider massaging your treatment areas after treatments to increase blood flow, reduce swelling and accelerate the breaking apart of fat cells to leave your body via your bloodstream quicker. For some, this may provide faster results.
HOW SOON WILL YOU SEE YOUR BODY CONTOURING RESULTS?
Of course, we cannot guarantee anyone’s results, and it would be irresponsible if we claimed we could. But, most start to see results as early as six weeks following treatment as their body begins to eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Optimal results for the majority of patients are usually seen at around the 12-week mark, with many patients reporting the loss of around 1.44-1.55″ from their waists in a single session.
HOW MANY SCULPSURE TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Dr. Rubin will create an optimal treatment plan just for you. This is when you’ll learn the number of treatments required to reach your goals and the timing between appointments. Most treatment windows are completed in sets of one to three sessions every six weeks to achieve optimal results.
Many patients notice results after six weeks, with continued improvements over the course of six more weeks following the last treatment. Massaging the skin over the areas of your procedure may help accelerate fat cell breakdown and elimination. It’s often recommended that you receive an additional one to two treatments to achieve your final goals. It would be best if you’re working to maintain weight and avoid gaining during and after your body contouring procedures.

HOW LONG DO BODY SCULPTING RESULTS LAST?
Body sculpting with SculpSure can last indefinitely. Because the fat cells eliminated during your treatments are gone forever and will never regenerate, they are considered permanently destroyed. However, you should keep in mind that you may still grow new fat cells if you gain weight. These will appear in other places or around your treated areas. This is why we recommend fully committing to and maintaining your already healthy lifestyle to ensure the permanence of your procedure.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SCULPSURE?

This procedure is perfect for nearly any adult with unwanted extra fat who lives a healthy lifestyle and is dedicated to keeping their weight in the same range. FAQs
What’s the difference between fat loss and weight loss?
Throughout our adult lives, the number of fat cells stored in our bodies remains constant. When we lose weight, fat cells become smaller but do not typically decrease in number. This makes it difficult to lose weight in specific trouble areas, even with regular diet and exercise. With SculpSure, it is possible to get a slimmer, more sculpted appearance since the damaged fat cells will leave your body.
Why choose SculpSure instead of liposuction?
Does body contouring really work?
Yes! When attending the amount of recommended sessions performed by a trained professional doctor, the treatments are proven to safely reduce unwanted fat cells from exactly where you want.
Can SculpSure damage skin or muscles?
No, SculpSure does not damage skin, nerves, or muscles. The proprietary laser will specifically only target your fat cells.
Is body contouring safe?
Yes, the FDA has cleared the usage of SculpSure for fat removal. It’s noninvasive, meaning there are no incisions or risks of infection. The surface of your skin isn’t affected in any way, and there’s no risk of skin damage.
Does Sculpsure hurt?
Most patients feel warm and tingling sensations intermittently during their treatment, which is typically well-tolerated. The cooling feature helps relieve the heat. After your sessions, you might experience mild firmness and tenderness in the treated area is a sign that your SculpSure treatment will work well. It is related to the injury experienced by the fat cells. The swelling and tenderness will go away after a few days.
Should only a doctor perform your body contouring services?
In many states, anyone can legally perform body contouring procedures. But, it’s best to have your consultation with a medical doctor who understands body composition and can make a qualified body assessment. Making sure your doctor is well-trained and experienced in noninvasive body contouring procedures will prevent any risks or the possibility of negative results.
How much do SculpSure treatments cost?
The pricing of our fat reduction procedures depends on the scope of your needs. Factors include areas we are treating and amount of sessions needed to reach your goals. During your initial consultation, we can review all those details, including costs. Use this form to book your first appointment.
Will insurance cover body contouring treatments?
This depends on your insurance. Most do not cover aesthetic procedures. However, you should call your insurance to see if you are eligible to submit for reimbursement and what steps you need to take to be sure you receive payments.
