WHAT IS AN IPL PHOTOFACIAL?
An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a laser light treatment that targets sun damage, red spots, brown spots, acne, and vascular lesions (like broken capilaries, blood vessels, and rosacea). It also reduces the appearance of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. This procedure is sometimes also referred to as photorejuvenation. It’s a wonderful tool for reversing the signs of aging!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The IPL is not a laser, but rather a powerful light source that is used for skin rejuvenation. It can penetrate the skin with minimal skin damage. This bright light passes through the epidermis, and like the laser, it works by filtering various wavelengths of light to react with specific skin conditions. This process has a stimulating effect on the skin, causing it to increase collagen and elastin production. This controlled injury imposed on the dermis and its reaction is a major factor in what stimulates the production of younger, fresher, and tighter skin.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENTS?
IPL Photofacials are done at our medspa in Gig Habor. Before your treatment, we will discuss you skin and your goals with you. The procedure is not painful, but it can feel a little uncomfortable at times. The light can be a bit bright for some people with light sensitivity. The length of treatment depends on the area being treated.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE RESULTS?
You will see improved results over time, with the best results seen around three months after the last treatment.* Sun protection and a good skincare routine are essential for the longevity of your results since sunburns and over exposure will bring back old sunspots and freckles. Dullness will return if exfoliation routines are neglected. We will recommend a treatment schedule according to your needs.
