O-Shot® for Sexual Enhancement
The O-Shot offers improved sexual function with no side effects or time lost from work.*
WHAT IS THE O-SHOT®?
The O-Shot, also known as the Orgasm Shot, is a non-surgical procedure designed to enhance sexual function and satisfaction for women. It involves a painless injection of personal growth factors from your blood into your clitoris and anterior vagina. This treatment harnesses the natural regenerative power of your body’s growth factors to help boost your sex life and improve your overall sexual health.
WHAT DOES THE O-SHOT® DO?
The O-Shot provides multiple benefits. After the O-Shot, patients typically experience the following:
- Greater sexual desire
- Easier arousal
- Better ability to reach climax
- More intense orgasms
- Improvement of stress incontinence
- Vast improvement in lichen sclerosus
HOW DO GROWTH FACTORS WORK FOR FEMALE SEXUAL ENHANCEMENT?
Proteins called growth factors stimulate your body’s natural healing and rejuvenation processes. When the O-Shot is injected into your clitoris and G spot, these growth factors work on a cellular level to repair damage, promoting the formation of new blood vessels and other healthy tissues and improving clitoral nerve function. This increases sensation and blood flow in your genitals and strengthens your pelvic floor muscles.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THE O-SHOT®?
If you experience any of the following, the O-Shot might be right for you:
- Sexual dysfunction, which may include:
- Loss of libido
- Difficulty reaching orgasm
- Less intense orgasms
- Urinary stress incontinence
- A desire to enhance your sexual pleasure and experiences
- Lichen sclerosus
1. WOMEN EXPERIENCING SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION
The O-Shot can be a beneficial treatment option for women who experience sexual dysfunction, such as reduced sexual desire, difficulty achieving orgasm, less intense orgasms and inability to orgasm (anorgasmia). Sexual dysfunction can negatively affect your relationship with your partner, physical health, mental health and confidence.
2. WOMEN WITH URINARY STRESS INCONTINENCE
Urinary incontinence (the involuntary leakage of urine) often affects women after pregnancy and delivery. It can also be caused by urinary tract infections (UTIs), vaginal infections, certain medications, constipation, natural aging and other conditions. Many women experience urinary incontinence when they sneeze, laugh or cough due to the pressure these activities put on the bladder. If you have urinary incontinence, the O-Shot can strengthen the muscles of your pelvic floor to improve your urinary control and reduce bladder leakage.
3. WOMEN WHO WANT TO ENHANCE THEIR SEXUAL EXPERIENCES
Even if you do not experience sexual dysfunction or other issues, you can benefit from the O-Shot. It can help to enhance your sexual pleasure, increase your orgasm intensity and improve your overall sexual satisfaction, whether alone or with a partner.
4. WOMEN WITH LICHEN SCLEROSUS
While the O-Shot is mainly known for improving sexual pleasure and treating conditions like urinary incontinence, it has also shown promising results in treating lichen sclerosus. This skin condition affects the genital and anal areas, causing itching, burning and pain. Traditional treatments such as topical corticosteroids and immunosuppressive drugs may cause side effects and are not always effective. The O-Shot helps to heal the tissues of the vagina and perirectal areas to aid in alleviating symptoms associated with lichen sclerosus.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE O-SHOT®
At your consultation, we will
AVOID BLOOD-THINNING MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS
Patients should avoid taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least one week before the procedure. Certain herbal supplements, such as turmeric, ginseng, fish oil and ginkgo, may also thin the blood and should be avoided leading up to your treatment. These products can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising after the O-Shot.
AVOID ALCOHOL AND SMOKING
We recommended refraining from drinking alcohol and smoking for at least 24 hours before your O-Shot procedure, as these substances can affect blood flow and increase the risk of complications.
STAY HYDRATED
Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your procedure can help ensure your veins are well-hydrated, making it easier to draw your blood for the procedure.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE O-SHOT® PROCEDURE
The O-Shot procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes to perform and is done on an outpatient basis at our Gig Harbor medical spa.
NUMBING THE TREATMENT AREA
The O-Shot procedure begins with the application of topical lidocaine and tetracaine to the clitoris, labia minor and anterior vagina. We reapply the topical numbing cream multiple times over the course of 30 minutes to ensure that the procedure is pain-free.
BLOOD DRAW
Next, we perform a simple blood draw. This process is similar to getting your blood drawn at most other doctors’ offices or medical facilities. A small, sterile needle is placed into a vein (typically in your arm) and removes a sample of your blood through an attached tube into an airtight vial.
ISOLATING YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH FACTORS
Using a proprietary technique, blood plasma (the liquid component of blood) and blood platelets that contain natural growth factors are separated from other components in your blood. These growth factors are concentrated within your blood plasma.
ANESTHESIA AND INJECTION PROCESS
Once the growth factors from your blood are prepared, Dr. Judith Rubin performs a clitoral nerve block to achieve complete anesthesia. She then carefully injects the growth factors extracted from your blood into your clitoris and your G spot in the upper vagina.
DO THE O-SHOT® INJECTIONS HURT?
We first apply numbing cream and then perform a clitoral nerve block. In most cases, the O-Shot procedure is a painless experience.
WILL I NEED DOWNTIME AFTER GETTING THE O-SHOT®?
You won’t need time off from work and most of your usual activities after the O-Shot, but there are some initial restrictions. You will need to avoid sexual activity for at least 24 hours after your procedure. We also recommend avoiding strenuous physical activity for a few days.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS FROM THE O-SHOT®?
Most patients notice an improvement in sexual function and bladder control within a few weeks of the procedure, with full results typically seen within two to three months.
HOW LONG DO O-SHOT® RESULTS LAST?
The effects of the O-Shot can last up to 18 months.
CAN I UNDERGO REPEAT TREATMENTS OF THE O-SHOT®?
We recommend that the O-Shot be repeated in six weeks after the first procedure. Then you can repeat the O-Shot on an annual basis. You can undergo O-Shot injections every 12 months to maintain ideal results without worrying about a lapse in sexual function.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS OR RISKS WITH THE O-SHOT®?
The O-Shot is a safe treatment option when performed by a qualified provider, and there are no known major side effects from these injections. Since it is an injection, there can be some minor localized bleeding, swelling and pain, but those pass quickly. Since the growth factors are created from the patient’s own blood, there aren’t any risks of allergic reactions to it.
