There is no substitute for diet and exercise. However, diet and exercise require constant upkeep. As people lose weight, the amount of fat inside of their fat cells decreases. If they gain that weight back, they simply add more fat to their existing fat cells. Now we have a new technology that damages the fat cell itself: SculpSure.* Once damaged, the fat cells leave your body naturally.*
SculpSure, is a new technology that uses a laser with a long wavelength to heat the fat cells to 42-47 degrees Celsius (107-116 degrees Fahrenheit) while cooling the skin. After a 4-minute warm-up period, the laser cycles on for 20 seconds and then off for 10 seconds continuously cooling the skin while heating the fat layer for 20 seconds at a time. Most patients tolerate this procedure very well. The procedure is not painless, but very tolerable, usually with a pain level of 4-5/10. For those patients who find the procedure to be painful, Nouveau MedSpas of Gig Harbor offers nitrous oxide as an anesthetic. We are the only SculpSure provider to offer nitrous oxide in the State of Washington.
After the 25-minute session, the laser heads are removed and if you touch your skin you will feel that it is actually cool to the touch. You can now go about your day with no downtime at all. Over the next 12 weeks, the cell walls of the fat cells break open and the fat is converted to waste product removed by your lymphatic system and recycled or excreted as ketones in your urine.* We encourage patients to exercise and drink plenty of water to wash out the waste products of the damaged fat cells. Two treatments in each area are recommended to assure the best results.*
