Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are the lines or folds that run vertically from the chin to the corners of the mouth.

What are marionette lines?

Marionette lines are the lines or folds that run vertically from the chin to the corners of the mouth. Even though their name is playful, deriving from marionette dolls, they can make us look unhappy or mad. These lines are a common result of the natural aging process that includes a combination of depleting fat (and other facial tissue underneath the skin) and a loss of skin elasticity.

As with other undesired facial lines and folds, genetics, increased sun exposure and smoking can all accelerate the development of marionette lines. There are certain steps you can take to delay the appearance of these lines, but inevitably they will be visible. If you’d like to address these unsightly facial lines, there are treatments available that do not require plastic surgery.

What are the available treatment options at Nouveau Medspas?

At our medspa in Gig Harbor, Dr. Rubin uses dermal filler injections to add volume to the face, smoothing out facial lines.* By adding volume to the areas above your chin, your marionette lines will be fleshed out and diminished.* The dermal fillers Dr. Rubin uses are: Juvéderm Vollure, Juvéderm Ultra XC and Radiesse. Neuromodulators such as BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin can also address facial wrinkles by relaxing your muscles.* If you’d prefer not to be treated with a long needle, AquaGold fine touch may be an option for you. Instead of one long needle, AquaGold utilizes twenty tiny needles to treat the signs of aging.* To learn more about these treatments, review the links below.
